Katy Jungmann is a British-German composer and multi-instrumentalist.

Drawing on her jazz and classical beginnings and versed in a wide range of musical styles her versatility enables her to push music in many directions. Her compositions are blends of contemporary classical, jazz, electronic ambient, and the avant-garde. Her voice is subtle, atmospheric, and emotionally driven. Often melancholic, her music is still uplifting with touches of humour and abstraction. Her scores blend neo-classical writing with modern jazz textures. Often starting from analogue her work then evolves using digital production techniques.

Inspired by emotional states and spaces, Katy founded the collective Dance4Music, composing for dance on film, and performing her work live with dancers. She collaborates with mixed media artist Sally Titterington, animators, and with dancers from Canada, Italy, the Philippines and Poland. She integrates movement and sound, shaping work that responds directly to image, space, and narrative. She continues to develop her screen-focused work through live and recorded projects, including (K)now Straition, expanding its themes through improvisation alongside saxophonist Roberto Manzin, who she met in Berlin and London.

Katy received her BA Hons under the guidance of British jazz musicians Mark Lockheart, Evan Parker, and Stuart Hall.
